Francisco Abelardo Almaraz, age 71, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2006 in Topeka. He was born March 9, 1934 in San Diego, Texas and the son of Alejos Almaraz and Gualalupe Ibanez Almaraz. He worked in construction in Topeka and a member of the Local Labor Union #142 He served in the U.S. Marines. He was preceded in death by a son, Francisco A. Almaraz, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Felipa Curiel of Topeka; a daughter, Mary A. Alcala of Topeka; a step-son, Manuel Chapa of Alice, TX; a brother, Adam Almaraz of Topeka; two sisters, Mary Lou Zapata of Corpus Christi, TX and Lucila Vela of Alice, TX; four grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Monday, January 30, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home. He will lie in state from 1-9 p.m. Sunday at the Davidson Funeral Home with family visitation from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Interment services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Leavenworth National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Midland Hospice Care and sent in care of the Davidson Funeral Home.
