Ida Swindell

Ida Swindell, 92, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2010 at her home. She was born on July 7, 1917 in Antonino, Kansas to Joseph and Margaret (Miller) Urban. Ida married Melvin Swindell on April 23, 1946 in Ellis County, Kansas. He preceded her in death on July 10, 1994. She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, Glory to God Prayer Community, and Birthright Prayer Chain. Ida is survived by her sons, Kenneth (Mary) Swindell of Bloomington, IN and David Swindell of Topeka; two grandchildren, Theresa and Jacinta Swindell both of Bloomington, IN; and two sisters, Josephine Gibbs of Carbondale and Esther Ryan of Santa Rosa, CA. A parish rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 20 followed by a prayer service at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at Mater Dei Holy Name Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
