John Francis Allensworth, 74, Topeka, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2004, at his home. He was born Oct. 4, 1930, in Topeka, the son of Virgil and Josephine Hinsley Allensworth. Mr. Allensworth was foreman for Kansas Power & Light in Topeka for 37 years before retiring in 1985. He was a 55-year member of the IBEW Local No. 304 in Topeka. Survivors include two sons, Bill Allensworth, and his wife, Delene, Topeka, and John Clark, and his wife, Linda, Nebraska City, Neb.; a daughter, Brenda S. Carniel, and her husband, John, Amazonia, Mo.; a brother, Bob Frederick Allensworth; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Davidson Funeral Home. Mr. Allensworth will lie in state from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
