Joy Hight Obituary

MARYSVILLE- Joy Janet Hight, 81, of Marysville, died after a courageous battle with cancer on Feb. 17, 2008 at her home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008 at First Christian Church with Rev. Jerry Zanker officiating. Burial will follow in Maryville Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary. She was born on January 5, 1927 in Frankfort, the daughter of James and Margaret Hood Scott. She graduated from Frankfort High School in 1945. Janet was married to Virgil Keller, and later divorced. On September 13, 1954 she married Bruce Hight, who preceded her in death on June 22, 1984. She was an active partner in family business: Bruces Body Shop since 1954, and then Marysville Ambulance since 1967. Joy was part of Marysville Moose Lodge, American Legion Auxiliary, FOE Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, City Council, Sr. Regent of Moose, Marysville and First Christian Church. Her survivors include: sons, Jimmy and wife Sandy of Marysville, Bruce and wife Nina of Wamego, Brice of Marysville, Bill and wife Jan of Lenexa, and daughters, Evelyn of Kansas City, MO, Shirley and husband Bob of Marysville, Connie and husband Steven of Plano, TX, Susan and husband Rick of Columbia, MO, Jill and husband Darrin of Hoyt, KS, and Julie and husband Rob of Marysville; sisters, Lenora and husband Larry of Topeka, and Margaret Jane of Saratoga, CA; and 25 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, companion Erv Priefert, Marysville, KS. She is preceded in death by her husband Bruce, her parents, and one great-grandchild Trevor. Joy Janet Hight
