Leo E. Bill Sumner HAVENSVILLE Leo E. Bill Sumner, 89, of Havensville, died Thursday, April 11, 2013 at the Eastridge Nursing Facility in Centralia. He was born July 28, 1923 near Havensville, the son of Russell and Cora Harris Sumner. Bill was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Havensville Christian Church, and a Life Member of Onaga Post No. 7772 of the V.F.W., Havensville American Legion Post No. 0333, and Masonic Lodge No. 188, A.F.&A.M. at Onaga. In his early years he pitched for the Havensville Baseball Town Team. He was a dairy farmer and did custom haying. After retiring from the dairy business, Bill raised dogs. He married Nellie Rogers on November 27, 1949. She died January 20, 2012. Bill was preceded in death by two sisters, Anabel Schnier and Nedra Brammer, and two brothers, Glenn Sumner and Dale Sumner. Survivors include a daughter, Marcia Conley and husband Gerald, Havensville; four grandchildren, Jason (Jada) Conley, Jerod (Dara) Conley, Jeremy (Laura) Conley, and Jami (Daniel) Berges, and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 15th at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Onaga. Burial with military honors will follow in the Havensville Cemetery. Bill will lie in state after 11:00 a.m. Sunday at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Onaga where family and friends will meet from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Rainbow Unit at Eastridge Nursing Facility, or the Kansas Living History Fund at Havensville, and may be sent in care of the funeral home, P.O.
