Jimmy Carlisle Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 5, 2012.
August 25, 1939 - June 3, 2012 Cupertino, California A fighter to the end, Jim Carlisle enjoyed his last sunrise surrounded by his family on June 3, 2012. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Ada Carlisle, his brother Larry and his first wife Judy Nowlan. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Suzanne. His children, Melinda Brackett of San Jose, CA., Christina Unruh of Cary, NC and Brian Carlisle of Vienna, VA. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Matthew, Caroline and Joshua Unruh and Abigail Brackett. He also leaves behind his best friend and loving dog, Carlee Sue. He was born in Wamego, Kansas and graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. While attending college he served in ROTC and he was proud to say no enemy plane ever flew over Kansas while he served. He was patriotic and proudly flew the flag everyday in support of the men and woman serving in the Armed Forces. He enjoyed his gardening and he loved to sit in his yard and enjoy the beauty of nature. He will be remembered as a loving husband and a devoted father. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you do something kind for someone else. With your small gesture of kindness you can make someone else's life better just as Jim did for all who truly knew him. Or you may also make a donation to the Fisher House Foundation. A celebration of his life will happen every day. There will be no memorial service. His passing will leave a void in his wife's heart and sadness in his children's lives. They are all what they are today because of him and so it is with sincere gratitude, appreciation and respect that they say good bye and thanks for the years they had with him. Through the end of his journey he continued to give his love, strength, advice and passion for life. As he said at the end, All you need is love. Jimmy Carlisle

I didn't get a chance to get to know Jim as well as I should have, but through the miles I thought about the family often. I enjoyed seeing pictures of the family and how they enjoyed their time together. My thoughts and love goes out to you all and may you all find those memories that make you smile and celebrate his life. Nothing is more precious then memories of a loving family.

What a beautiful and unique tribute to Jimmy! This helped me to know and feel his spirit and his values. We will also lift up all of you who love him and who carry on his genes and his vision. May you also be graced by kindness, love and respect, as you grieve. Thank you for everything you did for him and with him through the years and in these last days of his life. Delores Friesen

To Jim's family,
I am sending this message two fold.....first from the Seaman Alumni Association. We are sorry for your loss. Jim was a gentleman and was well liked and will be missed by many.

I also had the privlege of attening high school with Jim for four years. He was an asset to our class and to our sports teams. May the love and kindness of family and friends, help ease your sorrows at this time. Rest in Peace, Jim.
