Dr. Stephen M. Whitney, 59, went to join Our Lord on Tuesday, July 27, 2010. He blessed the earth with his presence on August 17, 1950. Family has always been important to him. He enjoyed a close and loving relationship with his mother, Elizabeth (Betty) Pettus and was blessed to have one brother, Jack Whitney of Corvallis, OR. He was married to Donna Craft for 26 years. Steve was blessed with three wonderful daughters. He had a novel bond with each of his children, Dianne (Adam) of Topeka, Michelle (Abram) of Silver Lake, & Kate of Denver, CO. He was the proud grandfather of Leila and Bryce of Silver Lake. Steve met his wife Diana of Topeka in 2000 and formed a timeless bond with his hunny bunny. He was surrounded by many loved ones and made a lasting impression on anyone he met. Steve excelled in his professional life by using his quick intellect and sense of humor. He was very active in the United Methodist Church all of his life. He loved our Lord and shared Gods love with many. His physical body will be laid to rest near his mother and family in Coffeyville. Please join us in a joyous celebration of Steves blessed life, 5 p.m. on Sunday, August 1, at University United Methodist Church (Topeka). Please wear cheerful colors as we share our fondest memories of this great man. A dinner and time of fellowship will follow.
