Velma Bernece (Wilson) Taylor Velma, age 103, was born 10-31-1907, in Superior, NE. She died March 3, 2011. She was the daughter of Fred C. & Fanny Ermina (Bonwell) Wilson. The family moved to North Platte, NE. in 1910, where she started school, then to Smith Center, KS, where she graduated high school. The family moved to Neb., then finally to Topeka. Velma was employed by the State of Kansas, State Office Bldg, & at the State Hospital. She loved family, friends, travel, flowers, sewing & playing pitch with friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; baby sister Nona; brother Bernard & Wilda Wilson; sister-in-law Margaret Wilson; son-in-law John A. Davenport, Sr.; grandkids Janie Taylor, Nona Lynn (Davenport) & Tom Duncan, Jeremy A. Davenport, & Alfred A. Lewis. She is survived by her children: Dr. Bernie D. & Jane (Rieger) Taylor, North Platte, NE., Marilyn (Taylor) Davenport. Topeka; brother Gerald Wilson, AZ.; grandkids John A. & Becky (Cummings) Davenport, Jackie G. Lewis, Topeka, Deborah (Taylor) & Tim Budin, Papillion, NE., Mike & Nancy Taylor, Fremont, NE., Mark & Gail Taylor, Omaha, NE. Great-grandkids: Ann, Cory, Jon Lewis, Jennifer (Davenport), Christopher & Elizabeth Budin. Great-great-grandkids: Mariah Lewis, Layla Rohr, and expected G-G-Grandson Rohr in May; several special nieces & nephews. Velma suffered a fall at her home, and died at Manor Care Nursing. She did request cremation & will be buried at a later date in the Catholic Cemetery at Hoyt, KS.
