Jack H. Sloan JACK H. SLOAN, age 90, passed away March 18, 2011 in Kansas City, MO. Funeral services will be held on March 23, 2011 at 11:00 am at the United Methodist Church, in Mullinville, KS. Interment, Hillcrest Cemetery. Memorial services will be held on March 24 at 2:00 pm at the United Methodist Church, Overbrook, KS. Jack was born February 18, 1921 in Mullinville to Chalmers and Rachel Sloan. He went on to serve our country as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Jack married Thelma Riggs on June 17, 1945 and they were married until the time of her death in 2008. Jack devoted his life to education and retired as Superintendant of the Santa Fe Trail unified school district. Jack and Thelma were both active within their communities, and specifically their church. Surviving are his daughters Cindy (Wade) Whitham, and Michele (Lou) Italiano, his son-in-law Keith Carlat, his grandchildren Jessica (Perry) Stoner, Jenn ( Jonathan) Carlat Norris, James (Amy) Carlat, Adrienne Whitham, Natalie Italiano, and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Clark Sloan, and sisters Carole Kullbom and Faye Hargadine. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma, and his daughter Diana Carlat.
