Kenneth E. Wenger, Hiawatha, entered into his eternal rest Jan. 1, 2013. On Oct. 8, 1949, he married Marjorie Thornton Layman at Powhattan. Four children were born to this union. They divorced in 1971. On Aug. 12, 1972, he married Shirley Apel Prater. Survivors include his wife Shirley of the home; sons, Delaine (Janet) Wenger, Ronald (Kathy) Wenger, Powhattan; step-sons, Scott Prater, Vassar, Kenneth Bud Prater, Nebraska City, Neb.; daughters, Patti (Jim) Branson, Carbondale, Cheryl (Ralph) Bryant, Topeka; step-daughter Gloria Roberts, St. Joseph, Mo.; sisters Betty (Don) Barnes, Hiawatha, Louise Anderson, Nacogdoches, Texas; brother Keith (Sandy) Wenger, Linden, Mich.; numerous grand and great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Kenneth's life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at Hiawatha First United Methodist Church.
