Avis M. (Shupe) Rodney, 56, of Holton, passed away Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, at her home. Avis was born Dec. 21, 1956, the daughter of Willis E. Shupe (Deceased) and Lorraine (John) Richter of Circleville. Avis graduated from Holton High School in 1975 and lived most of her life in Holton. She retired from Payless Shoes as a forklift driver in 1998. Avis was a No. 1 fan of George Strait and a faithful follower of NASCAR Driver No. 29, Kevin Harvick, and an avid animal lover. Avis was joined in marriage to Albert E. Rodney on Aug. 28, 1993, in Holton. He survives. Other survivors include her children, Chris (Steve) Hilke and Cathi (Corey) Eads, botth of Cairo, Mo., Jennifer Rodney of Topeka and Jimmy Rodney of Eudora; siblings, Danney (DeeAnn) Shupe of Topeka, Patty (Shupe) Logan of Holton and LeRoy (Marla) Shupe of Circleville; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Willis Shupe; her brother, Alan Shupe; her maternal grandparents; and her paternal grandparents. Memorial services for Avis will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16 at Circleville Christian Church in Circleville.
