James Richard Beseau James Richard Beseau, 88, passed away at St. Francis Health Center on Friday, November 1, 2013. He was born September 18, 1925 in Topeka, KS the son of Frederick and Mary E. (Birnbaumer) Beseau. Jim married Ann Evelyn Laris on August 22, 1964 at the Assumption Catholic Church in Topeka. She preceded him in death on March 20, 1989. Jim served as a corporal in the US Marine Corps during WWII and retired from Santa Fe Railway Company. Jim was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Church. He and Ann were active in the parish for many years. Jim was a longtime member of Knights of Columbus Council #534, and enjoyed playing in both the Santa Fe and K of C bowling leagues. Jim's real passion was helping others. He was an active volunteer for many years with Let's Help, who recognized his service with several Appreciation Awards. They awarded him the Volunteer of Distinction Award in 2003. Jim also helped serve many years at the annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner held at the Kansas Expocentre. Since December 2006, Jim has made his home at Atria Hearthstone Senior Living. There he made many friends and stayed active in that community. Jim was always an upbeat and happy man, making new friends very easily. The family wishes to extend their appreciation in particular to the staff at Atria West who has been so caring and wonderful to Jim throughout the years. Survivors include his caregivers, Fred Beseau and David and Shirley Lamott; brother, Vincent Beseau, Florissant, Mo and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and four sisters. Mass of Christian Burial for Jim will be held at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church 3601 SW 17th St, Topeka, KS on Wednesday at 10:30a.m. A visitation will be on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. with a family rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS.
