Wayne Yee Wayne Yee, 91, passed away Monday, January 20, 2014. Wayne was born November 11, 1922, in Taishan Kwongtung, China, the son of Chung and Hong Yee. In 1939 he immigrated to the United States. During his time in Boston, Massachusetts, he joined the U.S. Army from February 8, 1944 to February 10, 1946. Wayne served in World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart among other medals. While in Massachusetts, he worked at The Eagle Resturant in St. Fall River. Wayne and his cousin, Tony Mah Jr., opened The China Inn Resturant located in North Topeka in 1951; he has continued to operate the business with his son until 2007. In 1955, Wayne married May Quan in Lubbock TX. Survivors include his wife, May; children, Patricia Ann Yee and Dean Yee, both of Topeka; grandchildren, Kristen Nicole Yee, Kandace Michelle Yee and Skyler Nicholas Yee, of Kansas City. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and siblings. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, January 23rd at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to The , sent in care of the funeral home.
