WAKEFIELD- Margaret Avery, 104, died Feb. 9, 2007 in Topeka, KS. Ms. Avery was born on March 17, 1902 in Wakefield, KS the daughter of Herman W. and Hattie (Coffman) Avery. Ms. Avery was raised in Wakefield, KS and graduated from Wakefield High School. She earned a degree in home economics from Kansas State University in 1926. After teaching one year in Okilamulgee, Oklahoma, she enrolled at Columbia University in New York and earned her masters degree in Clothing Merchandising. Following the completion of her education, she worked for Dayton-Hudson Department Stores in Detroit, Michigan as a buyer. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother. Surviving is a brother William H. Avery of Wakefield, KS and her nieces and nephews. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Highland Cemetery, Wakefield, KS.
