Helen Allen Squires, 86, of Campbellsville, died at 10:15 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2013, in Campbellsville.
Daughter of the late Adolphus Allen Sr. and Sarah Kerr Allen, she was born May 12, 1926, in Taylor County.
She professed faith in Christ and was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she was a pianist for many years.
She was a retired employee of Service Cleaners in Campbellsville.
She was married to David Squires. He preceded her in death in 1977.
Survivors include two sons, Glen Squires and his wife, Frances, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Robert Squires of Jeffersonville, Ind.; two daughters, Debbie Fryrear of Campbellsville and Kathy Black of Winston-Salem, N.C.; 11 grandchildren, Robbie Wilson, Eric Wilson, Leah Squires, Kenny Squires, Richard Squires, Jake Squires, Jesse Squires, Grant Dunford, Tyler Dunford, David Fryrear and Abigail Fryrear; five great-grandchildren, Julia Fryrear, Will Fryrear, Josh Tungate, Candace Tungate and Kyler Wilson; special friends Malcolm Black, Louise Black, Lauren Canup and Taylor Black; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Richard Ray Squires, on Sept. 14, 1991; a granddaughter, Amy Squires; two brothers, Adolphus Allen Jr. and William J. Allen; and four sisters, Virginia Heath, Elizabeth Rainwater, Geneva Stephens and Eva Rees.
Memorial service was Saturday, March 9, at First United Methodist Church in Campbellsville. The Rev. Ron Young officiated.
Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville was in charge of arrangements.
The family requests expressions of sympathy be donations to First United Methodist Church or residents' council at Grandview Nursing & Rehabilitation and may be made at the funeral home.
