Robert "Bob" M. Lentz, 93, of Campbellsville, died at 6 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012, in Campbellsville.
Son of the late Otto William Lentz and Minnie Madeline Lotz Lentz, he was born in Jefferson County, Ky., on July 10, 1919.
He attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served his country in the United States Army and attaining the rank of technical sergeant. He served in Normandy, Northern France and Rhineland and was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with three Bronze Stars with Bronze Arrowhead, American Theater Ribbon, American Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal.
He was an employee of Fishers Packing Co. and owned and operated Lyndon Food Mart.
He was married to Dorothy Rothenberger on June 7, 1947. She preceded him in death Oct. 25, 1991. He married Jeanne Shepherd on June 20, 1992. She survives.
Other survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Leetta and Billy Dial and Teena and Mark Allen of Campbellsville; eight grandchildren, Hannah Allen, Emily Allen, Joshua Allen, Chelsea Gray, Nicholas Gray, Cameron Dial, Logan Dial and Madison Dial; two great-granddaughters, Maylee Wilds and Aubrey Dial; a brother and three sisters, James B. "Jim" Lentz and Mary Catherine Hurst of Louisville, Ky., Mary Agnes Bodenbender of Nashville, Tenn., and Joan H. Tunstill of San Jose, Calif.; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers Joseph Paul Lentz and William H. Lentz.
Funeral was Monday, Aug. 20, at Duncan Memorial Chapel at Floydsburg Cemetery in Crestwood, Ky. The Rev. Jack Caldwell officiated.
Burial was in Floydsburg Cemetery in Crestwood with full honors by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
