W. Delores "Doodle" Pruitt, 74, of Louisville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 7, surrounded by her children.
We are mourning the loss of a very special lady, our mother. She was born Sept. 21, 1943, in Louisville, a daughter to the late Theodore Robert Borders, Sr. and Margaret Mary Cecil Borders.
Delores attended Holy Name and was a 1961 graduate of Holy Rosary. She was an educator, working for more than 10 years for the Jefferson County Board of Education and Durrett High School. Delores also was a caregiver, taking care of the elderly and providing them with the loving care that they needed.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, and always put everyone ahead of herself. Delores enjoyed playing golf at Glenmary and designing interiors.
In addition to her parents, Doodle is also preceded in death by her brothers, David and Michael; two children, Lisabeth and George, and former husband and father of her children, G. Rayburn Pruitt.
Delores is survived by her children, Kelly (Robin) Hinderman of Troy, Ohio, Christopher (Melissa) Pruitt of Louisville and her step-father, Raymond Skaggs of Campbellsville; siblings, Theodore Borders, Jr. of Naples, Florida, Rosemary (George) Pinson and James Borders (Janey) both of Campbellsville, Kentucky, and Timothy Borders of Louisville. She also leaves to cherish her memory nine wonderful grandchildren, Hannah Pruitt of Dayton, Ohio, Spencer Hinderman of Troy, Ohio; Harrison, Madeline and Ethan Pruitt of Louisville, and Cassandra and Anastasia Pruitt of New York and Kayleigh and Colum Pruitt of Japan.
Her funeral mass was celebrated Monday, Dec. 11, 2017, at St. Louis Bertrand Catholic Church, 1104 S. 6th Street, followed by burial in Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to Hosparus Health of Green River.
