Berney Kessinger, 81, of Campbellsville, died at 5:20 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2014, in Louisville, Ky.
Son of the late Henry Clay Kessinger and Lizzie Nelson Kessinger, he was born on June 5, 1932, in LaRue County, Ky.
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Corinth Baptist Church.
He was a mechanic and former employee of LaRue County Road Department and Fruit of the Loom.
He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served his country honorably in the United States Army.
He married Martha Sapp Brewer on April 7, 2006.
Besides his wife, Martha Sapp Kessinger, survivors include three sons, Leon Kessinger and his wife, Joan, and Ricky Kessinger and his wife, Mary, all of Hodgenville, Ky., and Mark Kessinger and his wife, Renee, of Campbellsville; a daughter, Debbie Henderson and her husband, Billy, of Greensburg, Ky.; a stepson, Wayne Sapp and his wife, Wanda, of Campbellsville; a stepdaughter, Kathy Pierce and her husband, Chris, of North Liberty, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Ashley Yount, Wesley Kessinger, Allison Kessinger, Whitney Kessinger, Emily Kessinger, Ashley Mosley, Marcus Kessinger and Logan Kessinger; three step-grandchildren, Josh Sapp and his wife, Tasha, Shane Sapp and his wife, Candace, and Tiffany Raikes; three step great-grandchildren, Kyler Sapp, Hank Sapp and Bailey Sapp; a brother, Arvin Kessinger and his wife, Julie, of Hodgenville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Cruse and Naomi Twiddy.
Funeral was Friday, May 30, at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville. Bro. Jim Durham officiated.
Burial was in Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery.
Family requests expressions of sympathy be in the form of donations to Taylor County and they can be made at the funeral home.
