Jerry Wayne Edwards, age 74 of LaFollette, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at his home. He was a member and deacon of Elm Grove Baptist Church, a U.S. Air Force veteran, and a member of Valley Star Lodge #577. Following graduation from Powell Valley High School, he joined the U.S. Air Force, where he served in Kansas and England. After his military service, he returned to LaFollette where he operated the family farm and served on the board of directors for Dairymen, Inc. In 1989, he co-founded Rocky Top Trucking, Inc. with his son, Scott. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren, show livestock and was an avid UT football fan. Preceded in death by parents, John and Hazel Clawson Edwards.

Survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Rebecca Brown Edwards. Sons: Sam Edwards and wife Suzanne; Steve Edwards and wife Melissa, all of Speedwell; Scott Edwards and wife Elizabeth, LaFollette. Grandchildren: Sarah, Taylor and John Edwards, Speedwell; Hope Edwards, Temple, Ga. Brother: Don Edwards and wife Ann, Speedwell. Several nieces and nephews.

Family received friends 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday at Elm Grove Baptist Church, 2026 Old Middlesboro Hwy., LaFollette, TN 37766.

Services were 2 p.m. Saturday at Elm Grove Baptist Church. The body lay in state 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
