Ray Trammel
Pearl
Ray Trammel, 71, of Pearl passed away Thursday, December 6, 2012 at River Oaks Hospital in Flowood, MS. Visitation will be 5pm-7pm Sunday December 9 at Lakewood Funeral Home on Clinton Blvd in Jackson. Funeral services will be 2pm Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at Palestine Baptist Church in Elizabeth, LA, interment will follow in Palestine Church Cemetery.
Mr. Trammel was born in Houma, LA in 1941 to Ray H. Trammel, Sr. and Vergie Turner Trammel. He was a retired Horticulturist for the State of MS working for many years at the R&D Center. He was a longtime resident of Pearl and a member of Briar Hill Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, and fish. He was former president of the MS Fox Hunters Association, enjoyed country and gospel music, the rodeo and loved to dance. He was known by many of his CB friends as "Copenhagen". Ray's favorite pastime was listening to his fox dogs run, and being with his family. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend to many. He will be missed by all who knew him, fond memories of Ray will be treasured forever.
He leaves behind his two sons, Bill Trammel and wife Kahla of Pearl and Mike Trammel of Edwards; Ray's longtime companion and fiance Billie Meadows-Herring of Pearl; three precious grandsons, Will, Coleton, and Mat Trammel; one brother, Jerry Trammel; two sisters Verde Vallery and Gale Harper all of LA.
Donations can be made in honor of Ray to the National Rifle Association.
