Steinwinder, Dorothy - Jackson  
Dorothy J. Steinwinder Jackson Dorothy Jean Jones Steinwinder died Friday, July 31, 2015 at Brookdale of Brandon. She was born on January 15, 1946 in Tylertown, MS to Andrew V. Jones and Elma Lee Traylor Jones. She graduated from Tylertown High School and Mississippi State College for Women (MSCW.) She taught Home Economics in Hazelwood, M0., Durant, Pearl and Jackson Public Schools in MS. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Jackson, were she worked in the nursery until her health began to fail. Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Pat; one son, Andrew J. Steinwinder; one sister, Edna Marie Jones Ginn of Dallas, TX; one brother, Robert Otis Jones of Tylertown, MS. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 3, 2015 in the Chapel of First Baptist Church of Jackson with graveside services following at 3:00 p.m. at the Tylertown Cemetery in Tylertown, MS.

Stuart, H. N. - Carthage  
H. N. Stuart Carthage H.N. Stuart, 86, a resident of Walnut Grove, peacefully passed away at home August 1,2015. He was known most as Mr. H.N. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 until 1955. He was a graduate of the University of Mississippi. H.N. went on to work at the Bank of Walnut Grove in 1961 and retired in 1993 after serving as president, CEO and chairman of the board. Mr. Stuart was preceded in death by his wife, Demaree Stuart and parents DeWitt and Lessie Brantley. Survivors are sons, James (Cynthia) Stuart, Wayne Stuart; sister, Mary Lou B. Gilbert and a nephew David Stuart. Visitation will be held Monday, August 3, 2015 from 10:00am until 11:30am at Wilcox Funeral Home in Carthage followed by graveside services at 12:00pm at Fuston Cemetery in Walnut Grove.

Usry Jr., Corby Lee - Pearl  
Corby Lee Usry, Jr. Pearl Corby Lee Usry, Jr. was called home on Sunday, July 26, 2015. He was 67 years old. Visitation will be 3:00-7:00pm, Sunday, August 2, 2015 at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Funeral services are 3:00pm, Monday, August 3, 2015 in the funeral home chapel with interment in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Corby was born on January 5, 1948 in Houston, TX. He graduated from Central High School in Jackson, Miss. After High School, Corby traveled the world as a welder on oil rigs. Upon his return to central Mississippi he became a Firefighter in the City of Pearl. He was married to the mother of his children, Paula Irvin Usry, for 25 years. Corby retired as a Captain from the Pearl Fire Department after 26 years of service. He was not a man to keep idle in retirement. Corby continued to stay busy with his trucking and site work company and maintaining his commercial properties. Corby had many friends and would do anything for them. "I did so much, with so little, for so long, I am now qualified to take nothing and do anything." He was preceded in death by his parents, Corby Lee Usry, Sr. and Doris Murray Usry. He is survived by his children, Corby Lee Usry III, Nicholas Cullen Usry, Paula Collette Usry, and Samantha Annette Usry; his first grandchild, Corby Lee Usry IV; sisters, Lynn Usry Strain, Mary Ann Clay, and Donna Usry Vervalin; seven nieces and nephews, Chami Claire Kane, Chip Strain, Justin Clay, Todd McAlpin, Chandler Strain, Patrick McAlpin, Roxi McAlpin; and his loving companion of two years Sheila Matthews Blakely. Welch, Thomas - Ridgeland  
Thomas Clyde Welch, CLU Ridgeland Thomas Clyde Welch, 78, passed away at St. Dominic's Hospital on Sun., July 26 following a brief illness, with his family and priest present. He was born Nov. 10, 1936 in Savannah, TN to Thomas DeFord Welch and Reba Hinton Welch. He graduated from high school in Jackson, TN and received a BA from Millsaps College in 1959. Thom is survived by his wife, Jo Anne Regan Welch, sons Thomas Andrew Welch of Ridgeland and David Edward Welch and wife Jayne of Brandon; a sister Rebecca Welch of Monroe, LA and three granddaughters, Maria Anne, Emily Jayne and Anna Gail, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial service for Thom will be held on Monday, Aug. 3 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at St. Philip's Episcopal Church, 5400 Old Canton Rd., Jackson, MS. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the organ fund at St. Philip's Episcopal Church.

Whitten, Miriam - Brandon  
Miriam Whitten Brandon Miriam Bonner Lesley Whitten escaped from her mortal body into everlasting peace on Thursday, July 30, 2015. She is enjoying newfound freedom from the limitations of the flesh and has been reunited with precious family who went before including her husband, Nathaniel Murry Whitten and her parents Mary Elizabeth Barkley Lesley and Clyde Wilson Lesley along with her brothers Robert Barkley "Bob" Lesley and Clyde William "Bill" Lesley. She leaves behind her daughter Lesley Whitten Morton [Jimmy] and her son, Nathaniel Craig Whitten [Cecile] and three grandchildren, Wilson Pressly Whitten, David Murry Whitten and Elizabeth McEachern Whitten, along with her sister Mary Elizabeth "Tip" Lesley Power and numerous nieces, nephews and "greats". Mimi [as she was named by her sister's children] was born in New Albany, MS in 1923, and graduated from Holly Springs High School where she enjoyed music and athletics. She graduated from Mississippi State College for Women [now MUW] where she developed friends from around the southeast. Upon graduation, she taught school subjects in home economics, math and history, before moving on to work in various business office positions including the Ford Motor Plant in Memphis. She was recognized there as one of the most fashionable women in the company. While visiting the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in Memphis she met her future husband, with whom she had shared a home town. After living for a year in Pascagoula, MS,she and Murry made their home in Memphis, TN, where they lived until following their children to Brandon, MS in 1999. Miriam was always active in her church, holding various leadership positions in women's ministry and the choir. In retirement years, she enjoyed travelling throughout the United States on Barkley Bus Tours with friends and keeping up with her grandchildren and her neighborhood friends in East Memphis and then in Crossgates. Miriam will be remembered by friends and family as a wonderful cook, seamstress, pianist, homemaker, supportive wife, mother and friend. A lover of musical Psalm singing, she cherished many friends and years of joy from the churches she belonged to: Memphis and Providence A.R.P. Churches, and Brandon Presbyterian Church. She could play the piano by ear well into her later years at Peachtree Village Retirement Center. Family will gather for a graveside service on Sunday, August 2 at 3:00 p.m. at the New Albany City Cemetery. A memorial service will be held in her honor at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at Brandon Presbyterian Church, preceded by visitation from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Memorials can be made to the Brandon Presbyterian Church Music Fund, 209 South College St., Brandon, MS 39232, www.brandonpres.com .
