Billy Hutchins


Billy F. Hutchins was born in Raymond, Mississippi, on October 28, 1927, and died suddenly at home in Jackson March 24, 2013. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Lakewood Funeral Home from 5:00pm until 8:00pm. Funeral Services will be held 10:00am, Thursday, March 28, 2013 in the Chapel of Lakewood Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Lakewood Memorial Park.

Preceding him in death are his father, Orville G. Hutchins, Sr.; his mother, Neva Lois Johnson Hutchins; his brother, O. G. Hutchins, Jr., and his sister June Hutchins Kelley.

Hutch, while active in the YMCA, became an Eagle Scout at age eighteen. He enlisted with the Air Force and served in the occupation forces of Europe. After his term in the service, he became a Georgia State Trooper for a number of years. His remaining work years consisted of self-employment and also supervising contracts regarding maintenance of parks and military bases.

Hutch is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Margaret Martz Hutchins, and their six children: Sons--Shane Hutchins and wife, Anne, of Brandon, MS; Brett Hutchins and wife, Joni, of Raymond, MS; Clete Hutchins and wife, Diana, of Raymond, MS; and Marty Hutchins of Byram, MS. Daughters--Tracey Miller and husband, John, of Terry, MS; and Tanya Long and husband, Glynn, of Brandon, MS.

He is blessed with fifteen grandchildren: Andrew Lavigne (Subrina), Sarah Morgan, Rachel Cheatham (Nick), Heidi Hutchins, Jared Hutchins, Hunter Hutchins, Candice Smith (Clint), Matthew Miller, Andrew Miller, Justin Long (Charity), Neva Long, Georganna Hutchins, and Brittany Hutchins (Derek), Cameron Hutchins and Tanner Hutchins (mother-Tammy Hutchins).

Great grandchildren are: Brandon Lavigne, Cody Lavigne, Sophia Cheatham, Seraphina Cheatham, Nick Morgan, Christian Smith, Tanner McMillan and Madisyn Long.

He is also survived by his brother, Lloyd A. Hutchins and wife, June; and the following nieces and nephews: Bill Hutchins, Sandy Cox, Cheryl Andries, Lloyd Hutchins, Karen Kelley-Bays and David Kelley.
