George Edwin Mabry, 91 of Jackson passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at Manhattan Nursing and Rehab in Jackson. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 2pm in the chapel of Lakewood Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 1pm. Interment and graveside services will follow in Lakewood Memorial Park.

George was born in Eoline, AL on Easter Sunday, April 16, 1922. Mr. Mabry is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years Mae Grayson Mabry of Meridian, MS.

Mr. Mabry served in the U.S. Army in WWII and received the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and many other medals.

Mr. Mabry was employed by South Central Bell for 36 years. Member of Telco, Telephone Pioneers, member of Alta Woods Baptist Church, Leavell Woods Masonic Lodge 626, VFW Post 6473, charter member of Oak Forest Exchange Club, MS Woodworkers Assoc.

George was an avid fisherman, hunter and craftsman. He loved traveling and was loved by all that knew him and cherished being with his family and friends and will be greatly missed.

Mr. Mabry is survived by his three daughters. Lynda Alman of Ridgeland, Diane Gosselin (Dave) of Madison, Deborah Fry (John) of Clinton. Six granddaughters, and eight great grandchildren.
