Wiley R. Bryant


Wiley Randal Bryant, 91,of Clinton, MS, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 16, 2013, at the VA Nursing Home in Jackson, MS.

Mr. Bryant was born on September 17, 1921, in Raleigh, MS, to Dora Mae Smith Bryant and Wiley Bryant, Jr. He graduated from Raleigh High School and Jones County Jr. College. He joined the Army in September 1942 at Camp Shelby, MS. After D-Day, he was sent to France where he participated in the Saint-Lo Breakthrough and the Battle of the Bulge. He was honorably discharged in 1945.

After his service in the Army, Mr. Bryant returned to his home in Raleigh, MS, where he met Ann Elizabeth Ashley. They were married in Clinton, MS, on July 3, 1948, and moved to Jackson, MS. He was employed by Westinghouse Electric Supply Company in Jackson for 35 years. After his retirement he worked as a real estate appraiser for First Magnolia Savings & Loan in Jackson for 10 years.

Mr. Bryant joined Parkway Baptist Church of Clinton, MS, in 1951, where he served as deacon chairman, Training Union Director, adult men's Sunday School teacher, boy scout leader, and member of the Sr. adult choir.

He was also a member of the West Jackson Civitan Club.

Mr. Bryant was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Obie, Orbie, Kenton, Curtis, Ray, and Stanley Bryant, and his sisters Jane Bryant Hill and Etha Mae Bryant.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ann Ashley Bryant of Clinton, MS; his daughters Cindi Bryant Brown and husband, Ricky of Jackson, MS, Cheryl Bryant Brabham and husband, Jehu of Clinton, MS, and Caren Bryant Williams of Madison, MS. Four grandchildren, Grant Brabham and wife, Anna of Madison, MS, Whitney Williams Williams and husband, Gray of Madison, MS, Cole Brabham of Midland, TX, and Chase Williams of Madison, MS; 3 great grandchildren, Kaden and Knox Brabham and Sadie Willliams, all of Madison.

Mr. Bryant loved gardening, hunting and fishing, reading his Bible and being with his family.

Visitation will be Monday, February 18, 2013, from 5-7 p.m. and 10-11 a.m., Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at Parkway Baptist Church in Clinton. Services will be Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Parkway Baptist Church, with graveside services immediately following at Lakewood Memorial Park, Jackson, MS.

Pallbearers will be his sons-in-law Jehu Brabham and Ricky Brown, grandsons Grant Brabham, Cole Brabham, Chase Williams and grandson-in-law Gray Williams.
