Willard E. Blair
Willard E. Blair, 62, of Pearl, went to be with the Lord Sunday, October 28th, 2012.
Visitation is at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Magee, MS, from 6:00 to 9:00pm, Tuesday, October 30th, 2012, and from 8:00am-10:00am on Wednesday, October 31st, 2012.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, October 31st, 2012, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Mt Olive. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
Will was born on September 28th, 1950, in Mendenhall, MS. He was a 1968 graduate of Pinola High School and a 1972 graduate of Delta State University. He was a loving husband, father, pawpaw, brother, son, and teacher & coach. He was a man of impeccable character with a flawless reputation. He was loved and adored by family and friends and countless young men and women whose lives he touched as a coach and educator. He began his coaching career at Magee and has coached at Pearl, Richland, Hernando, Crystal Springs, East Rankin, and University Christian. He had a heart for young people and has had a profound impact on all the guys he coached. He wanted the young men that he coached to learn more about the game of life from him than anything else and for them to learn from his example to be good men and model citizens.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Beverly; a daughter, Tiffany (Ray) Durr; a grandson, Jack Durr; his mother, Pauline; a sister, Faye Duke (Don); a nephew, Jim Nowell (Linda); a great nephew & great niece, Taylor & Jordan.
He is preceded in death by his father, Hollis Blair; a nephew, Danny Nowell; and his beloved dog, King Shorty.
Pallbearers are Neil Blair, Jim Nowell, Ricky Hawthorne, Sam Piazza, Ray Durr, Jr, Taylor Nowell, David Streit, Shane Wingate.
Honorary pallbearers are Jack Durr, Ray Durr, Sr., Don Duke, Bruce Merchant, Donald Walker, Danny Welch, Royce Foster, Ernis Walker, and the Pinola Class of 1968.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Coach Blair's honor may be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church building fund, 449 Mt. Zion Road, Mt. Olive, MS 39119.
