William Owen "Bill" Blasingame, 71, died January 5, 2013.
Visitation will be Monday, January 7, 2013 at Wright & Ferguson in Clinton from 5pm-7pm. The Graveside Service will be at Beersheba Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery in Columbus, MS on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at 1:30pm. Visitation will precede at 12:30pm in the Church Fellowship Hall.
Bill was a native of Columbus, MS before moving to the Jackson, MS area. He graduated from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Masters of Education. He then went on to a 35 year career in Vocational Education in the State of MS. He retired as the Director of Instructional Development & Student Organizations with the MS Department of Education.
Bill was a member of Edwards Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He was an avid outdoorsman and horse enthusiast.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Owen G. & Miriam Ponds Blasingame, and his sister, Frances Blasingame Hughes all natives of Columbus, MS.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Jo Askew Blasingame of Edwards MS; children, William Kevin Blasingame (Sheila) of Diana TX, Blair Blasingame Noble (Andrew) of Lafayette LA, JJ Worrell Bonner (Scot) of Ponchatoula LA, and David Exum Worrell Jr. (Kelli) of Brandon MS. He is also survived by his grandchildren Ashley Briana Blasingame, Christin Elise Blasingame, William Brayden Thomas, Everett Knox Worrell, and Kempton Logue Noble.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Trinity Mission Health and Rehab in Clinton for their compassionate care of Bill for the past few years.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to the Beersheba Cumberland Church (1736 Beersheba Road Columbus, MS 39702) or French Camp Academy (1 Fine Place French Camp, MS 39745).
