Bobbye Fowler Obituary

Bobbye Nell Fowler, 70, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2007 at home surrounded by her family and friends. Visitation will be today from 6-8p.m. at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl, and also Sunday, October 14, 2007 from 1:30p.m. until service time at McLaurin Heights Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 14, 2007 at 2:30p.m. at McLaurin Heights Baptist Church in Pearl. Interment and graveside services will follow at Lakeland Place Garden Park Cemetery, Hwy 25 in Brandon. Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home of Pearl is handling the arrangements.
Bobbye was a native of Clarksdale. She was preceded in death by her parents, A.L. and Grace Broadway of Dublin. She was a member of Skyway Hills Baptist Church of Pearl. Her life-long love was southern gospel and church music. Since she was a young girl, she had served as organist and pianist at many churches. Her greatest assets were her faith and love for the Lord she served, her husband "Honey", whom she met and married while in high school, her children, and her love of cooking and hosting the many friends, visitors, ministers and missionaries that were always welcome in her home. Everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her knew she was truly one-of-a-kind. Our loss is heaven's gain.
Survivors include: husband of 52 years, Paul M. Fowler of Brandon; children, Richard Paul Fowler and wife, Suzanne of Pearl, Daphne Grace Carpenter and husband, Tim of Pearl, Kimberly Kay Tedford and husband, Paul of Lyon, Marty Kevin Fowler and wife, Jeannie of Pearl, Heather Joyce Long and husband, Michael of Pearl; brothers, Glenn Broadway of Brandon, Joe Broadway of Pearl and Billy Broadway of Pass Christian; sisters, Linda Clausel of Brandon and Shirley Robertson of Van Vleet; grandchildren, Chase and Carlie Stevens, Ryan Fowler, Anna and Michael Carpenter, Kassie Gibson, Gerald Tedford, Zack and Valerie Fowler. In addition, she is mourned by a dear friend of over 40 years, Nell Harmon of Brandon, along with a host of relatives and the dearest friends in the world.
The family requests any memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to the Gideon's International.

Growing up in the old Riverside Baptist Church, one of my role models was Bobbye Nell. I admired her faithfulness to the church and her family. She always seemed to have time for all the many things she was involved in. I've seen her off and on over the years, and she's always been the same.

Although I only knew her for a short year, its feels like I grew up in her house as one of her own kids. Mama was an incredibly caring and genuine woman. I won't ever forget the birthday phone call I received from her just two months ago. I didnt answer. So she sang Happy Birthday on my voicemail, then called me back and sang it to me again. Like always, thinking of somebody else before herself.
Mama will be missed dearly and thought of always.

I had no biological sisters but God gave me two dear ladies who've been like sisters to me since we were teen agers. Bobbye Nell was one of those sisters. I was able to visit with her a few days ago and I will treasure those two hours we spent together reminiscing about the days we traveled together as members of the "SHAMROCK" Quartet. She sang alto in the group, along with myself, tenor, Sherrill Sturdivant, lead, Robert Aldridge, Bass, and Nancy Perry played the piano. Robert died a few years ago(with cancer).

I've written this for her children who may not know these things about their mother.

Paul, I grieve with you and your family and at the same time celebrate her home going. She is now gracing heaven's choir with her beautiful voice, praising and worshiping her Savior whom she loved and served.

God bless all of you and you will continue to be in my prayers.
