Brent Clayton, 70, a resident of McComb, Mississippi, passed away on January 3, 2013 at his residence.
Visitation will be held at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in McComb, Mississippi on Saturday, January 12, from 10:00 a.m. until funeral mass at 12:00 noon. Fr. Brian Kaskie will officiate. Hartman-Sharkey funeral home of McComb is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Clayton was born December 20, 1942 in Baton Rouge, LA. He was the son of the late, Clarence and Wilna Kleinpeter Clayton.
He was a Customer Engineer for IBM in the computer industry and served in the U.S Navy, he worked in the I.T. department at SWRMC for fifteen years and was a member of the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of McComb. He graduated from Istrouma High School in Baton Rouge and attended LSU.
He was known in the community as "Big" and his family said he was a loving husband, father and grandfather and his life centered on his grandchildren. He also spent many years coaching girl's softball and basketball as well as working with computers. He will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him.
He is preceded by his parents, one brother, Kelly Clayton and one sister, Carolyn Clayton
He is survived by his wife of forty six happy years, Gidge Clayton of McComb, three children, Julie Clayton of Madison, MS., Molly Clayton Westfall and husband, Kevin of Allen, TX and Steve Clayton and wife, Dr. Christina Dial of Ridgeland, MS., one brother, James Clayton and wife, Deb, one sister, Patricia Chehardy, four grandchildren, Hunter Westfall, Owen Westfall, Walker Clayton and Menley Clayton with numerous nieces and nephews.
