Mrs. Gurvis Davis Cresswell, 87, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. Funeral visitation will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Stricklin-King Funeral Home with a Graveside Service and Interment at Glenwood Cemetery, both in Yazoo City.
She was born July 14, 1926 in Lake Village, Arkansas to Grover and Elsie Davis. She lived the majority of her life in Satartia, Mississippi where she was a dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker. Mrs. Cresswell was a member of Satartia 1st Baptist Church and lived in Jackson for the past twenty years.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Franklin Cresswell and her daughter, Peggy Cresswell Mask.
Survivors include her son, James Lamar Cresswell Sr. (Emily) of Satartia; sister, Louise Davis Frusha (Charles) of DeRidder, LA; grandchildren, Shelley Cresswell Thomas (Dow) of Louisville; James Lamar Cresswell, Jr. of Memphis, TN; Jerry Chadwick Mask (Elizabeth) of Jackson; Franklin Reed Mask (Jennifer) of Elizabethtown, PA; Laura Anne Mask of Jackson and eight great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Erickson, I.N. Hart, Tom McGraw, John McInnis, Bob Ragland, and Harry Simmons.
