Herbert Ervin Hodges


Herbert Ervin Hodges, 78, of Jackson and formerly of Indianola died Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Visitation will be held Friday, August 23, 2013 from 11:00 am until the 12:00 pm funeral service at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. Burial will follow in Indianola City Cemetery under the direction of Burton Funeral Home of Indianola. Mr. Hodges was born October 1, 1934 in Indianola to William Ervin and Marie Smith Hodges. He was a United States Marine Corps Veteran and was retired from the Mississippi Army National Guard. He worked in the catfish procurement industry for over 30 years and retired from Ludlow Manufacturing after 20 years of service. Mr. Hodges was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Judy Lynn Case; sister, Katherine McDonald; infant brother, Robert Hodges, and brother, James Hodges. He is survived by his former wife and life-long loving friend, Juanita DeMoney Hodges; daughter, Tami Hodges (Carl) Brooks of Madison; son, Randy McKinney of Jackson; four sisters, Ruth Boxx of Starkville, Jo (Leon) Langley of Clarksdale, Bernice (Buddy) Bishop of Charleston, and Earlene Sullivan of Chicago; brother, Tom (Estelle) Hodges of Lizanna, Mississippi; three grandchildren, Maxwell Hodges Brooks, Samuel Reece Brooks and Amy Brown Champion; one great grandson, Andrew Jude Champion; and a host of nieces and nephews who loved and adored him. Mr. Hodges will always be remembered for his fun loving spirit, and his kind and generous heart. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Blair E.
