Obituary Condolences

Hugh Norman

Summit

Hugh "Pete" Norman, Jr., 82, of Summit, MS, died Monday January 7, 2012 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS. Visitation will be held at Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home in McComb, MS on Friday, January 11th from 5:00-7:00 PM and continues Saturday at First Baptist Church in Summit from 1PM until services at 2PM. Burial will be in Reeves cemetery with masonic graveside services.

Pete was born on June 12, 1930 in McComb, MS. He lived in Summit all of his childhood and his interests naturally gravitated to farming and all that it entails.

He loved the lord, his family and his farm and was an icon in the Pike County area. Pete was best known for his humor and always had a new joke to tell. He had the rare ability to make you feel at ease and laugh. We are comforted in the fact that all of Heaven is laughing with him today. He enjoyed going to see his beloved bulldogs play sports, and he and Betty always welcomed anyone that wanted to come and join in their many "tailgate" parties at their motor home. He attended Jones School and graduated from Summit High School and attended SMJC and MSU.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty Boyd Norman; by four children: son, David Norman (Melody), daughters, Debbie Hollomon (Bud), Diane Vance (Tom), and Dottie Carlisle (Keith); 8 grandchildren: Amanda Norman Bladsacker (Ricky), Ashley Norman Burke (Michael), Spencer Norman (Sarah), Chris Hollomon, Cassie Hollomon, Sami Vance and Kate Vance; 3 great grandchildren, Cole Bladsacker, Reilly Bladsacker, and Issac Norman; 1 nephew Boyd Ritchie (Barbara) and 1 niece, Angie McDaniel (Bruce).

Memorials may be sent to First Baptist Church Building Fund P.O. Box 100 Summit, MS 39666.
