Leo L. Griggs


Leo L. Griggs died peacefully at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland on May 5, 2012 at the age of 96.

He was born on July 2, 1915 in Rosebud, AR to the late James F. and Mary Bell Griggs. He was preceded in death by his 4 brothers and 3 sisters. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Bertie L. Griggs, 2 children: daughter Mary Clark Roby of Flowood and son Tommy Griggs of Clinton; 3 grandchildren, Rusty Clark (Nikki) of Flowood, Ronnie Clark (Ashley) of Brandon, Christi Dippel (John) of Sherwood, AR; 8 great grandchildren, Trey, Emily, Lochlan, Jay, Andrew, Silas, Cooper, and Merrie Afton.

Leo was a veteran having served with the US Army Air Corp in World War II and stationed in Alaska. After coming home, he began working for Texas Eastern Transmission Corp. and retired after 32 years with them.

Leo had been an active member of Morrison Heights Baptist Church in Clinton since 1959.

Funeral services will be 2pm Tuesday, May 8, 2012 in the sanctuary of Morrison Heights Baptist Church in Clinton, MS. Visitation will be at the church from 12 noon -2pm prior to the service, burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson, MS.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Morrison Heights Baptist Church, 3000 Hampstead Blvd, Clinton, MS 39056.
