Services for Lorene Estes, 90, of Natchez who died, Tuesday, November 12, 2013, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 15, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Natchez with Dr. Doug Broome officiating. Visitation will be Thursday November 14, 2013 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the church and Friday from 10:00 a.m. until service time.

Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Lorene was born July 28, 1923 in Jefferson Davis County, MS, the daughter of Ivy and Lena Pierce Lauderdale. Children were the joy of her life. She held the most important position in life -Mother. The door to our home was always open and welcoming to any children. She was the eldest of 5 sisters. At age 15 she married Glenvall Estes and moved to Natchez where she helped to take care of his two younger brothers as their mother had died 3 years prior. Within a year she had her first son, followed by 4 more sons and one daughter. We always knew that our home was open to any of our friends who share fond memories of times at the Estes house.

Lorene was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Natchez for many years. She was also a member of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ivy and Lena Lauderdale, her husband of almost 69 years Thomas Glenvall Estes, Sr, son Charles Eugene, granddaughter Hailey Elizabeth Estes and sister Marilyn Bond.

Mrs. Estes is survived by her four sons Tom (Fran) of Hattiesburg, Don (Cathy) of Natchez, Billy (Phillys) of Meridian, Terry (Paula) of Natchez, daughter Jeanne (Sue) of San Jose, CA; sisters Faye Spiers of Slidell, LA, Maxine Wolfe of Memphis, TN and Nora Rawls of Columbia, MS; brothers-in-law Billy Estes (Cherry) of Mt. Hermon, LA, Howard (Claire) Estes of Fayette, MS; sisters-in-law Kathy (Joe) Nunnery of Vidalia, LA, Debbie (Billy "Porky") Smith and Velma Estes of Natchez, MS.

She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren Carol Ann (Bill) Bustin, Michael (Kristi) Estes, Robert (Tara) Estes, Stephanie (George) Forbes, David (Kim) Estes, Lillian (Scott) Reed, Kelly (Eddie) Butler, Jennifer (Jody) Nix, Shane (Tabatha) Johnson, Lana (Geoghegan) Clarke and Brett (Lindsey) Estes.

Her great-grandchildren provided her with much pleasure and love: Emily, Abby and Will Bustin, Taryn, Aidan, Chris, Jacob, Audrey, Harvey, Jamie, Olivia, Katherine and Wes Estes, Tyler and Allison Forbes, Paul, Ben and Sam Reed, Dylan and Matthew Butler, Ryan, Delaney and Cameron Nix, Colby Johnson, Emerson and Eli Clarke, great-great-granddaughter Ryleigh Butler and many special nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be David Estes, Robert Estes, Michael Estes, Brett Estes, Shane Johnson and Scott Arinder.

The family would like to thank Dr. Barry Tillman, the staff at Magnolia House, Meadville Convalescent Home and Dr. Kimberly Estes. Donations may be made to the Natchez City Cemetery, First Baptist Church of Natchez or the .
