Suellen S. Ward


Susan Ellen Schultz Ward, age 71of Jackson, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 9, 2013. She was born to the late Sudie Godwin and Jack Locke Schultz on June 29, 1942. Suellen attended St. Andrew's Episcopal School, graduated from Murrah High School in 1960, before attending Millsaps College where she was a member of Kappa Delta. She was an active member in the community and was a longtime member of the Junior League of Jackson and the Debutant Club of Mississippi, making her debut in 1961. She was a parishioner of St. Andrew's Episcopal Cathedral where she sang in the choir in the early 2000s. Before she left full time work to raise her children, she worked at her family's landmark clothing stores Sudie's and Hardwicks, both located in the Woodland Hills Shopping Center in Fondren. Suellen is survived by her children Gayden "Locke" Ward (Melanie) and Ellen Ward Gomila (Lawson), grandchildren Mary Pender Ward and Henley Hodges Gomila. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends. Visitation will be held at St. Andrew's Episcopal Cathedral in the Parish Hall from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2013. Services will follow in the cathedral at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to The National Psoriasis Foundation.
