Velma Short Agnew, 103, died Saturday September 22, 2012 at St. Catherine's Village. Visitation will be 5-7pm Thursday, September 27, 2012 at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Ridgeland, MS. Graveside services will be 2:30pm Friday September 28, 2012 at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Velma was a homemaker and a longtime member of Woodland Hills Baptist Church. She was an avid duplicate bridge player and became a life master. She was nicknamed the "No Trump Queen" by her friends at the Jackson Bridge Association. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and especially loved social gatherings, which she always called "parties". Velma had a special bond with people and her friends were very dear to her.

She was preceded in death by her husband Samuel Calvin (Joe) Agnew. Survivors include her great nieces Ronna Wright Owens, of Brandon, MS and Carol Wright Watkins, of Madison, MS and their families.

The family requests that memorials be made to the - MS Chapter, 196 Charmant Drive, Ste 4, Ridgeland, MS 39157
