William D. (Bill) Windham, Jr. of Spring Texas passed away peacefully at his home on February 10, 2013. He was born in Jackson Mississippi on May 15, 1931 to William D. and Edna Boney Windham. He was a graduate of Jackson Central High School and the University of Mississippi where he met his wife of 56 years, Sallye Kersh Windham. Before retiring, Bill was a Partner with Arthur Anderson and Vice President of Information Systems with Mitchell Energy and Development.
Bill was an avid athlete who was drafted by the New York Giants baseball team in 1950. He spent the '50 season in their minor league program with the Vernon Dusters. After the 1950 season, Bill joined the Air Force where he spent four years as an Air Traffic Controller during the Korean War. After fulfilling his service commitment, Bill resumed his education at Ole Miss where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree specializing in Accounting. Bill went on to earn his CPA certification while at Arthur Anderson. Outside of work, Bill continued to enjoy watching baseball and was an avid private pilot, achieving his instrument instructors license.
Bill is preceded in death by his wife Sallye, his parents, and his sister Susan Windham. He is survived by four sons - Dr. William A Windham, David Windham and wife Gloria, Jeff Windham and wife Lynn, and Richard Windham and wife Chris, all of Spring Texas, 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Bill is also survived by his brothers Jerry Windham and Dr. Thomas Windham and his wife Linda, all of Oxford Mississippi.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 14 from 6 to 8 pm and Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 15 at 10 am, both at Klein Funeral Home, 16131 Champion Forest Drive, Spring
