One of Jackson's finest passed away early Sunday morning, September 12, 2010, at St. Dominic's hospital surrounded in love by his family.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 PM Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at St. Mark's Methodist Church on Grants Ferry Road near the Reservoir. Visitation will be at the church, today, from 5 - 8 PM and Tuesday from 12 - 2 PM.
Charlie was born Oct. 8, 1947 in Hinds County. He graduated from Central High School where he was an outstanding baseball player. He attended Hinds Jr. College and Mississippi College on a baseball scholarship. He served in the United States Marine Corp from 1966 to 1968. He retired from the Jackson Police Dept. and later took a medical retirement from the Hinds Co. District Attorney's office after serving as an investigator for ten years. Charlie was the lead investigator in solving the murder of civil rights leader Medgar Evers.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of twelve years, Nancy Tanner Crisco of Brandon; son, Chuck Crisco (Tricia) of Spring Hill, TN and two grandchildren Preston and Michaela; son, Danny Crisco of Texas and grandson Alex; daughter, Beth Crisco- Chapman (Craig) of Sevierville, TN; mother, Maxine Jackson of Brandon; sister, Karen Croswell-Wadley (Bill) of Lewisberry, PA. He was preceded in death by his father Cecil Crisco.
Charlie was a faithful member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church where he was involved in Bible studies, choir, served on the board of trustees and served his church joyfully as a handyman. With all his heart Charlie loved his God, his church, his family, his friends and his loyal dog Maggie, who was by his side 24/7.

Charlie often said he thought that it was more than fate that brought us together in friendship; I quite agreed. I was there to lean on as time went on, thus he called me friend. The last thing he told me was: "You know I love you, don't you"? Now he is at peace, but I miss him every day - GOD blessed me and my best friend, Charlie M. Crisco.

I am so sorry to hear about Charlie. He was such an influence on me as a police officer, as a SWAT team member, and as a training academy instuctor. His words to me after I had to take a medical retirement, were what inspired me to go to law school. He said "there is life after JPD." Those simple words changed my life. Because, at the time, I did not think that there was life after JPD. May God Bless you during this difficult time.
