Carlie Harland Allbritton, 93, died Monday, September 27, 2010, at Bedford Care Center, Mendenhall, MS.

Funeral services for C.H. Allbritton will be held from Holly Grove Baptist Church, Braxton, Mississippi at 2:00pm Thursday, September 30, 2010. Internment will follow the Service in Holly Grove Church Cemetery. Rev. Jack Hester and Rev. Andy Gipson will officiate. Visitation with family and friends will be conducted 1 hour prior to Services. Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home, Jackson, Mississippi is in charge of arrangements.
He was born August 27, 1917 near Braxton in rural Simpson County, Mississippi, the son of the late Ollie Mae Powell Allbritton and the late Joseph Elam Allbritton.
Carlie attended schools at Braxton, Holly Grove and New Zion in Simpson County and graduated from Harrisville High School in 1939. His working career included employment with Jackson Steam Laundry, Hinds General Hospital, Tri-State Brick and Tile Company, Snow White Cleaners and Crescent Laundry. He was a Master Mason and member of Pearl Lodge #23. He served his Country as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps.
Prior to his death, he was the oldest living member of Holly Grove Church, joining that fellowship at age 14.
Carlie was also preceded in death by his brothers, John A. Allbritton, Leland Travis Allbritton, Lawrence B. Allbritton, and Jimmy Ellis Allbritton; and sisters, Gracie Allbritton, Ida Lee Allbritton Lawson, Tressie Theo Allbritton Bridges and Mary Louise Allbritton Mathews.
He is survived by Celeste Allbritton, a sister-in-law of Brookhaven, Mississippi; and a number of nieces and nephews.
