James Edward Barnett, 83, went to be with our Lord Saturday, February 4, 2012 at MS Baptist Medical Center, Jackson.

Visitation is 4:00-7:00 pm today at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Jackson. Funeral services are 11:00am Tuesday, February 7, 2012 in the funeral home chapel. Graveside services will follow at 2:30pm in Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery in Neshoba County. The family will also receive friends one hour prior to services at the chapel.

Officiating will be Rev. James Richardson, Dr. Mark Strum, Rev. Wilbur Irwin and Rev. Robert Patton. Pallbearers are Ricky Bishop, Chris Barnett, Kevin Barnett, Malcolm Barnett, David Barnett and Ricky Luke.

Mr. Barnett was born July 4, 1928 in Winston County, a son of the late Thad and Audra Barnett, and moved to Jackson in 1950. He was employed by Knox Glass for 11 years and Jatran for 30 years, serving as a driver and route supervisor. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in the Philippines during WWII. He was also a member of Faithview Baptist Church of Raymond and a mason. His hobbies included fishing, playing guitar and spending time with his beloved family.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Mae Price Barnett; son Woody Barnett and wife Kathy; daughter, Debbie Pippin and husband John; grandchildren, Ricky Bishop, Chris Barnett and Kevin Barnett; brother, Homer Barnett and wife Jean; sisters, Shirley Lawrence and Virginia Richardson; uncle, Emmett Barnett; and numerous nieces and nephews.
