Milton Maness Bartlett, 92, of Booneville, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville. He was a former Jackson County supervisor and entrepreneur in the fields of furniture manufacturing and construction, among other ventures.
Mr. Bartlett was often described as a man who could walk into any room and own it. Anyone who crossed his path knew this to be true. He had an amazing sense of humor and a contagious laugh. He never met a stranger and could find something in common with just about anyone. Mr. Bartlett was known for his storytelling abilities, and he had lots of life adventures that kept his audience captivated while he spoke. No one dared get in a political argument with him, unless he wanted to end up in agreement with him. He was a feisty man with a loving heart who loved his family dearly. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his sons, as well as in the heart and soul of his "partner," his beloved grandson, Braxton.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM Monday, September 16, 2013 at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Greg Polluck officiating. Burial will be in the Camp Creek Cemetery.
He is survived by 2 sons, Buddy (Leigh) Bartlett of Madison, MS and Tyler Downs Bartlett of Wheeler, MS; 1 grandson, Braxton Bartlett of Madison, MS and the mother of his son Buddy, Darlene Tillman of Canton, MS.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 sister, Mary Blanch Sheffield and 2 brothers, Gerald Gray Bartlett and Ted Bartlett.
Visitation will be from 12-3 on Monday, September 16, 2013 at the funeral home.
