John Dario Baltar, Jr

Jackson

John D. Baltar, 77, passed away on June 5th, 2014. He was born in Biloxi, MS on July 27th, 1936, to the late John Dario and Katharine Baltar and enjoyed living and working on the Gulf Coast for many years. His daily words and deeds influenced his family and friends by demonstrating his love of God and his particular devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. A memorial service will be held at St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Jackson at 2 pm on Tuesday, June 10 with visitation beginning at 1 pm.

John was a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi and a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. His eagerness to help others and his dedication to his political ideals allowed him to work as a business consultant and to serve the State of Mississippi as

Assistant to the State Treasurer and Assistant Secretary of the MS State Senate.

John chaired several civic organizations on the MS Gulf Coast and served on the Board of Directors of many charitable organizations.

John's greatest joy in life was spending time with his family and his precious dog, Lil Darlin. He leaves behind many good friends and will be remembered for his remarkable kindness and generosity, his beautiful blue eyes and infectious smile.

Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Sallis Baltar, four daughters, Ann Carol Porter (Ron) Clinton, Michelle Skrmetta (Steven) Biloxi, Kay Trahan (Randy) Ocean Springs, Teresa Hayes (Donnie) Biloxi, three step-daughters, Winky Newman (Matthew) Madison, Vicki Smith (Larry) Winter Springs, FL, Holly Ellis, Vicksburg, and two sisters, Kay Baltar Lange, Bay St. Louis, and Marilyn Baltar Fireman, New York, NY.

John - "Pop Pop" - was adored by his 15 grandchildren and was blessed by the birth of his first great grandson just hours before his death.

Following John's example of helping those in need, the family encourages friends and family to memorialize him by making donations to their favorite charity.
