Vivian Dugger Whitson, 66, died Saturday, April 17, 2010, at her home in Brandon, MS.

Services will be 11:00 am Wednesday April 21, 2010, preceded by visitation at 10 am at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home on Highland Colony Parkway, in Ridgeland.
Mrs. Whitson was born September 2, 1943 in Paragould, AR to Hazel Whitney Dugger and Herman Andrew (Dick) Dugger.
Her parents preceded her in death as does her late husband David Leach Whitson and her brother Ed Garrison.
She is survived by her brother, Sterling Dugger of Booneville, MS and his wife, Mary; daughter, Cydney Cannimore Perkins of Brandon and her husband (son-in-law), Lance; a granddaughter, Allie; and a grandson, Jake Perkins; three nieces and three nephews.
Vivian or Sissy as her family knew her graduated from High School in Deering, Mo in 1961, from Arkansas State University in 1964 with a BS in education and later received a Master's from Jackson State University. She loved learning and added many other certificates in reading and special education over the years. She taught public school in Missouri, Arkansas, Tennessee and Mississippi. At the time of her death she was employed with the Mississippi Department of Education as Program Coordinator in the Office of Special Education.She was a tireless advocate for her students and education. In life, her attributes were her straightforwardness and her generosity to those she loved. Those who loved her will feel her absence palpably.
Vivian's interests included meals with family and friends but most of all her roles as mother and grandmother.
