Henry Allen Paige, II, "Allen" as he is fondly called by family and friends, was the first born of Henry Allen and Josephine O'Banner Paige. Born November 05, 1974, Allen transitioned this world on Monday, July 19, 2010.
Funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am Saturday, July 24, 2010, at New Hope Baptist Church (Watkins Dr.), with burial at Garden Memorial Park. Visitation is 1:00-7:00 pm today at Lakeover Funeral Home (Family present 5:30-6:30 pm).
Allen attended Jackson Public Schools, including North Jackson Elementary, Powell Middle and Callaway High Schools. At Powell School, he played soccer and basketball and was happy just sitting on the bench. At Callaway High, he served as athletic trainer, gaining knowledge and skills to earn an athletic scholarship to Alcorn State University, where he studied for one year before transferring to Jackson State University. At Jackson State, he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Health and Physical Education; and soon, thereafter, began his teaching career at Chastain Middle School, where he served as a classroom teacher, assistant basketball coach and track and field coach. He continued his educational pursuits by earning the Master's Degree in Education Leadership at Mississippi College.
As a young child, Allen was an active member at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where he served on the Usher Board and Junior Mission. His training at Shady Grove Church prepared him for the service he would later render as a member of ETA TAU Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and the Sollie B. Norwood Lodge 699. He was a very benevolent and passionate person who visited the sick, communed with the elderly, catered to special-needs children, and was a genuine friend to mankind. He was presently a member of New Hope M.B. Church on Watkins, Dr.
Allen loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was also a champion swimmer, currently (at the time of death) serving as pool manager at the City of Jackson pools-a position he would hold while on break from his regular teaching job.
Those left to celebrate Allen's homegoing include: his doting mom and dad, Josephine and Henry A. Paige of Flora, MS; a loving sister, Kelly D. Paige of Dothan, AL; and aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
