Jimmie L. Flint

Mr. Jimmie Lee Flint age 85, died February 26, 2011 in Flowood, MS. Services will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 28, 2011 at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl, MS with Rev. Steve Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at 3:00 PM in Philadelphia, MS at Emmanuel Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl, MS and one hour prior to the service on Monday.

Jim was a Veteran of WWII and the U.S. Navy, serving "two years, two months, two days" in the Pacific Campaign. He was truly a devoted, loving husband to Katherine for 64 years, and the very best father, grandfather and friend to us.

Jim came to MS after an honorable discharge from the Navy. By chance, he saw a beautiful girl from Philadelphia, knew he would marry her and did so 7 months later, September 23, 1946.

He has loved and served God, his family and the City of Pearl for over 60 years. Jim was a member of McLaurin Heights Baptist Church, worked for Vickers Inc. 30 years, served as a Reserve Police officer 25 years and a City of Pearl Alderman 4 years. Officer "Pappy Flint" was the coordinator of the Pearl Reserve Police and helped organize a Pearl Police Combat Pistol Team. As a team member, he shot competitively throughout the U.S. winning numerous awards. Jim spent many hours escorting the outstanding Pearl High School Band to competitions. He was outgoing, loved by so many and never met a stranger.

Jim leaves behind his wife, Katherine; children: Kathy (John) Dawson, Belinda (Bob) Sauter, Jimmy (Julie) Flint, Sheila (Mike) Goza; grandchildren: Shannon and Hal Stanley, Mary Katherine, Lee Ellen, Virginia and Harold; Josh and Patricia Dawson, Conner; Jinny and Andrew Bailey, Andie, (Ryne due in April); Matthew Flint; Jordan and Ashley Goza; Brandon Goza.

He will be missed for his funny tales, Dadaddyisms, huge smile and heart and that boiling hot cup of coffee.

Memorials may be made to The Gideons International, The Jackson-Pearl Gideons P.O. Box 5973 Pearl, MS 39288-5973.
