Mary Elaine Jenkins McIntire, 87, a retired teacher, died Thursday March 10, 2011 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Eupora, MS. Visitation is Saturday March 12, 2011, 10:00 AM - service time at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS. Funeral services are 1:00 PM Saturday March 12, 2011 at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS with burial in the Salem Cemetery near Ackerman, MS. Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS is handling the arrangements.

Mrs. McIntire graduated from Holmes Junior College with honors, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Delta State University, and obtained a Master of Education degree from Mississippi State University. She taught junior high school for 32 years in Choctaw County, at French Camp, at Pascagoula and at Moss Point, Mississippi teaching mathematics and history. Sister Elaine also helped her husband farm in Choctaw County, she was a writer, family genealogist and historian, a world traveler, quilt-maker, gardener, and doll-collector, but most importantly to her, she was a Sunday School teacher and bible scholar, having read the bible through many times and she was a faithful witness for her Lord Jesus. Sister Elaine accepted Jesus at the age of 12 and was a faithful member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Eupora for many years.

She is survived by her brother, Benny Harold Jenkins of Jackson, MS; and sisters-in-law, Christeen Dearman Jenkins of Pearl, MS, Margueritte Joy McRae Jenkins of Duluth, GA, and Sara Ann Halsell Jenkins of Jackson, MS. While Sister Elaine did not have any children, she is survived by many nieces and nephews and friends who thought of her as a mother and grandmother.

She was predeceased by her husband, Jerry Riley McIntire; her parents, William Meredith Arnold Jenkins and Esther Geneva Trussell; brothers, Horace Vernon Jenkins and Bobby "Sonny" Lynn Jenkins; and sisters, Jimmie Lee Cheeks and Betty Wayne Rayburn.
