Rosemary Curlee Burney, 97, passed away Friday, April 1, 2011 at her residence in Clinton, Mississippi. She was a member of Wildwood Baptist Church and attended the ladies' Sunday School Class, Joy.
Mrs. Burnery was born in Copeland, Alabama on May 26, 1913 to William and Ida Jane Curlee.
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, B.H. (Ben) Burney; her son, Benjamin Eugene Burney; and a grandson, Paul Brendonn Burney.
She is survived by 11 children: Mary Kathryn (Calvin) Phelps, William Earl (Jane) Burney, Betty Jane (Phillip) Clark, Jacky Dean (Shirley) Burney, Cotton (George) Croy, Carloyn (Lucius) Cook, Edward (Ramona) Burney, Paul (Patsy) Burney, Peggy Burney, Ronald (June) Burney, and Donald (Gladys) Burney; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Burney stated that her greatest joy in life was "raising" her twelve children in old Flowood, MS.
Memorials may be made to Wildwood Baptist Church, Hospice Ministries of Ridgeland or a charity of choice.
The family would like to say thank you to the special people who took loving care of their mother during her illness; Dr. Jon Michael Bealle, Rosa, Annette, Wendy and Dwayne and other staff of Hospice Ministries of Ridgeland.
The family of Mrs. Rosemary Burney will receive friends 5pm-8pm Sunday, and after 9am Monday at Lakewood Funeral Home. Funeral services are 10am Monday in the chapel with interment to follow in Lakewood Memorial Park.
