Mrs. Gloria Jean McCracken Vaughn, 65, of Coffeeville, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2011 at her residence. Mrs. Vaughn was born September 27, 1945 in Coffeeville to the late Gene and Ouida Hamlett McCracken. She was a long-time employee of Merchants and Farmers Bank in Durant where she and her husband, Hal, made their home for 30 years. They were active members of First Baptist Church in Durant while living there. Following Hal's retirement in 2002, they moved back home to Coffeeville. Gloria worked for several years at Mechanics Bank prior to her retirement. Upon their return to Coffeeville, Gloria became very active in church activities at First Baptist Church including the Baptist Career Women and the Social Committee. She was also a member of the Board of the Friends of the Coffeeville Public Library. Above all, Gloria had a heart for others, especially the elderly. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 18, 2011 at 2 PM at First Baptist Church in Coffeeville with Rev. Jerry Bishop and Dr. Daniel Hathorne officiating. Interment will follow in the Pinecrest Memorial Garden near Water Valley. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 2 - 5 PM at the church. Pallbearers will be James Potts, Clyde Holyfield, Steve Bailey, Breck Brown, Tommy Chisolm and Allen McBride. Honorary Pallbearers will be Roy Bennett Stevens, Larry Holloway, Daryl Burney, Scotty Gordon, Mike Stephens and Kirby Elliott.

Survivors include her husband, R.C. "Hal" Vaughn; a son, Clay Vaughn and his wife, Cathy of Flowood and a brother, Samy McCracken and his wife, Billie of Grenada.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Barbara Vescovo.

Garner-Harper Funeral Home of Coffeeville (662-675-8704) has been entrusted with the arrangements.
