Walter "Little Brother" Johnson, age 70, died Sunday morning August 28, 2011 at the family home. He was born March 2, 1941. He was the fifth of fourteen children born to Robert and Ella Lorean Johnson in Edwards, Mississippi. He was a member of Champion Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Bolton, Mississippi under the pastorate of Reverend Milton Myles.

His educational path began at Champion Hill Elementary School. He also attended Edwards Junior High School and Utica High School. At Utica Community College, he earned an Associate degree in Biological Sciences. He graduated from Alcorn State University in 1963 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Biology. Upon graduation, he assumed a long-term substitution assignment at Mixon Junior High School teaching Biology.

During the fall of 1964 he began teaching at Tipton Street High School, in Kosciusko, MS and remained there until integration. When the school systems consolidated he was transferred to Kosciusko High School and taught Biology . He retired on June 1, 1993. He also earned a Masters in Education Degree in Administration from Mississippi State University while teaching in Kosciusko. After retirement he taught for several years for the Band of Choctaw Indians on the reservation in Choctaw, MS.

His parents ( Robert and Lorean) and four siblings preceded him in death, Henry, Earlean, Robert Jr., and Nathaniel. He leaves to mourn his passing, six brothers; Emanuel (Lydia) from Mitchellville, MD; RC (Queen) from Plymouth, MN, WC (Everlyn), from Starkville, MS; HC (Barbara), from Hattiesburg, MS; Bernard (Callie), from Port Gibson, MS; and Carl (Michaele) of Upper Marlboro, MD; three sisters, Marilyn Lynn from Indianola, MS; Mary Beatrice Johnson from Edwards, MS; and Evelyn C. from Glendale, MD. He also leaves two generations of nieces and nephews, and a host of others relatives and friends.

Graveside services and burial will be held today September 2, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at Chapel Hill Missionary Baptist Church on North Chapel Hill Road in Bolton, Mississippi. Rev. Marion LeFlore will officiate. Lakeover Memorial Funeral Home at 1525 Beasley Road in Jackson has charge of arrangements
