A decorated combat veteran, Ben also had a long and distinguished career in the Mississippi National Guard where he served as a trainer and mentor to many, many young men. I was privileged to serve with him and honored to know him. The world is a lesser place without him in it. My sincere condolences to the family. Please know that you are in our prayers.

Ben Wiley Ruscoe was my cousin on the Wall side of the family. He was in Europe fighting in the Second World War when I was born. Despite the difference in our ages, I enjoyed all of the times we got together. Ben loved his Wife Betty, his children, his extended family, but the young people he taught and coached, and the children at Washington School had a special place in his heart. Ben, I will miss you greatly, but I am pleased to have known you. Hugh Stanford Porter
