David Cyrus Ewing died as a result of a mid-morning vehicle accident on Highway 16 near Rolling Fork on Thursday, May 17, 2012.
David was born to Mr. and Mrs. W.T. Ewing, Jr. at Mercy Hospital in Vicksburg, MS on April 6, 1969. He grew up in Anguilla, MS and graduated high school at Sharkey-Issaquena Academy in Rolling Fork, where he was recognized as an outstanding athlete in both basketball and football. He attended Delta State University, where he continued his athletic career as quarterback for their football team. David also attended Mississippi State University before returning to his home in Anguilla to join Ewing Planting Company with his father- a lifelong dream fulfilled. On July 7, 2005, he married Julia Carpenter Rodgers of Rolling Fork. They established their home in Rolling Fork with David's daughters, Samantha Grace and Taylor Elizabeth. William Rodgers Ewing was born October 9, 2010 to complete the family.
David is survived by his wife, Julia Rodgers Ewing; children, Samantha Grace, Taylor Elizabeth and William Rodgers Ewing; parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.T. Ewing of Anguilla, MS; a brother, Justin Thomas Ewing (Christan); nephew, Cade Ewing and nieces, Libba and Evie Ewing.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Chapel of the Cross Episcopal Church, 25 McLaurin St., Rolling Fork, MS 39159.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, May 19, 2012 at the Chapel of the Cross Episcopal Church in Rolling Fork and interment will follow in the Golden Link Cemetery in Anguilla, MS. Visitation will be Saturday at 9:00 AM until the hour of the service at the church.
Glenwood Funeral Home in Rolling Fork is in charge of arrangements.
